PKEE promotes Polish energy sector during Eurelectric summit

On 4-5 June, 500 key representatives of the European energy sector gathered in Ljubljana, Slovenia. CEOs, politicians and businessmen discussed current challenges, opportunities for electrification and digital modernization. Polish Electricity Association was one of the sponsors of the conference and partner of the discussion path dedicated to sustainable development. In the panel Filip Grzegorczyk, Vice President of PKEE and CEO of TAURON Polska Energia SA took the floor.

Access to safe, sustainable and affordable energy is a dream of all European Union Member States and an objective Poland is consistently striving towards " - said Filip Grzegorczyk.

On the first day of the conference, the Electrification Report was presented. This fundamental study presents options for the deep electrification of transport, industry and construction. The European energy sector is one of the proponents of reducing emissions in 2050 by transforming the economy. Furthermore, the study indicates that different starting points in EU countries - in terms of energy, economic situation and industrial activity - will require different pathways and levels of effort. In Poland, for example, deep decarbonisation will depend heavily on the commercial availability of key transition technologies.

This annual event was organised by Eurelectric, the leading organisation of the energy sector in the EU. The meeting exchanged views on state-of-the-art solutions and future applications such as electromobility and energy investments. During the summit PKEE also actively promoted the Summer Day taking place on 6 June at the Autoworld Museum in Brussels.

Electrification of transport is important for the electricity sector, as is balancing consumption and generation at different times of the day and night, and building new capacity using cleaner energy sources " - said Paweł Wróbel, Director of the PKEE Brussels Office.
