PKEE partners with COP2

The Polish Electricity Association will be actively taking part in the events during the COP24 Climate Summit where the representatives of government administration, business sector, the scientific community and the industry will be negotiating the directions of the climate policy.

The coming Monday will be the first day of the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

On the 3rd of December, at 12:10 and 14:15 hours, Krzysztof Laskowski, the expert of Eurelectric/PKEE and Kazimierz Szynol, the expert of PKEE, will participate in two parts of the panel on Just Energy Transition.

On the 5th of December, during the “COP Innovation Day”, at 14:30 hours, according to the plans, Jacek Kościelniak, the CFO of ENERGA SA. will take part in the panel of Grupa LOTOS SA.Vice President of the Board for Finance of ENERGA SA. in the panel LOTOS Group SA.

In turn, at 17:30 hours a debate focusing on the PKEE report – “Power sector on the road to innovation” will be organised. Participants will include: PKEE - Power sector on the road to innovation. It will be attended by, among others:

  • Tomasz Dąbrowski, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Energy;
  • Ignacy Morawski, expert, co-author of the Report;
  • Dawid Klimczak, President of the Management Board of Enea Trading Sp. z o. o.;
  • Wojciech Nowak, Director of the Power Industry Centre, AGH University of Science and Technology;

The next day of the COP24, 6th of December will be dedicated to the power sector. It will include a meeting convened by the PKEE under the motto of the “Polish Power Sector is Changing”. The event will begin at 11:30. It will be combined with the presentation of the report on “The contribution of the Polish energy industry to the implementation of the global climate policy”. It summarises the key aspects of the efforts by the Polish power sector aimed at decreasing its environmental impact. The Report also provides information on the already implemented and still planned measures in the context of the global and the EU policies against the background of selected EU Member States.

The presentation of the Report will be concluded with a debate attended by:

  • Krzysztof Tchórzewski, Minister of Energy;
  • Henryk Baranowski, President of the Management Board of PKEE, President of the Management Board of PGE;
  • Filip Grzegorczyk, Vice President of the Management Board of PKEE, President of the Management Board of Tauron Polska Energia SA;
  • Mirosław Kowalik, Vice President of the Management Board of PKEE, President of the Management Board of Enea SA;
  • Jacek Kościelniak, Member of the Management Board of PKEE, Vice President of the Management Board of Grupa Energa SA;
  • Yvon Slingenberg, Director DG Clima
  • Matthew Willey, Director of External affairs Drax Group.

The panellists will be discussing the current problems of the low-emission economy, environmental policy and financing the energy transition.

On the 11th of December at 11:40 and 13:00 hours the representatives of the Polish Electricity Association - Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Energia Ciepła S.A. and Janusz Zyśk, PKEE/AGH expert, will take part in panels on “Clean Air Programme - chance to reduce the level of air pollution” and “Locally for clean air”.

For all the events the PKEE has invited numerous international and domestic experts to collaborate. They will together try to tackle the current key challenges of the climate policy on the international arena.
